The Academy for music, arts, culture, science & technology, provides quality and free music education to students of all ages. We serve our diverse community by offering all children in need of music education access to music Instruction.

The Academy offers Fall, Winter, and Spring terms. Each 9-week term roughly follows school district calendars. Classes and ensembles meet at the Mind Seed Studio on Saturdays. Individual instruction takes place throughout the week at the mutual convenience of faculty and students.

Saturday classes and lessons take place in the LTV Music and Theater Arts buildings and at designated locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.


We offer opportunities to perform in state-of-the-art venues throughout the community. Placement in ensembles is as directed by the academy and with instructor approval only.


Musical Theater Program


The Academy offers 4 levels of Musical Theater instruction. Each class performs in the End-of-Term concert, the Sunday following the last class.

All Musical Theater classes 

Introduction to Musical Theater   

Saturdays, 10:30-11 a.m., Recital Hall

Ages 4-5 

Basic singing, acting and dancing technique for young musical theater enthusiasts.

Musical Theater   

Saturdays, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Recital Hall

Ages 6-8

Sing, dance, and act in a musical skit, complete with costumes and staging.

Advanced Musical Theater

Saturdays, 12-1 p.m., Recital Hall

Ages: 7-11 and instructor approval

Further development of dancing, acting, and singing techniques culminating in a complete musical skit performance.

Musical Theater Workshop

Saturdays, 1-2 p.m., Recital Hall

Ages: 12 years and up, with instructor approval

Continued Musical Theater studies for pre-teens and teens. Emphasis on script development, staging, and singing technique.




Academy Fiddlers

Saturdays, Music Room

  • Level 1: 9-9:30 a.m.
  • Level 2: 9:30-10:15 a.m.
  • Level 3: 10:15-11 a.m.
  • Level 4: 11-11:45 a.m.


The Academy offers four levels of group fiddle instruction. Students are placed by age and playing level. Other instruments welcome by audition (piano, cello, mandolin, whistle, harp, flute, etc).

String Orchestra

Saturdays, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Music Room


A first ensemble experience for string students. During rehearsals, emphasis is on developing reading ability, rhythmic independence, and ensemble skills.

Flute Choir

Saturdays, time TBA, Music Room 


An opportunity for flute players to participate in an interactive group and expand on concepts of unison, rhythm, harmony, and independent playing.

Jazz Ensemble

Saturdays, 10-11 a.m., Music Room 


Study and perform jazz idiom instrumental music with stress on stylistic interpretations, jazz techniques, improvisation, and ensemble playing. Two years playing experience required.
